In 2008 he achieved the European Board for the Specialty of Cardiology. Between 2020 and 2022 he was one of the Judges to award: JNC Best Clinical Paper Award (Frans J. Th. Wackers Best Clinical Research Paper Award), by the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He is currently a member of the ESC Working Group on Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac CT since 2010, and Board Member Editor of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology since 2018. He is member of several scientific societies and also a usual international reviewer for several Editorial Committees in Institutions and Specialized Journals (clinical cardiology journals, and cardiovascular imaging journals). He has accumulated extensive knowledge, expertise and strength in the fields of his study, and has made an important contribution to international medicine with his co-workers. He is an international expert in the study of cardiac synchronization, ventricular remodeling, cardiomyopathies, chronic coronary artery disease and the development of cardiovascular risk scores in women and men. He has developed the VHRS-I, VHRS-II, VHRS-ICM, the CORSWO, and the PERRS-index. Currently he is related to 20 lines of research, with the analysis of myocardial flow, Chagas heart disease and myocardial involvement in scleroderma being the most recent lines under development.
