Dr Guillermo Romero Farina is a Cardiologist and Senior Researcher at VHIR and CIBERCV, and cardiologist at CSAPG. He is an expert in the study of cardiac synchronization, ventricular remodeling, cardiomyopathies, chronic coronary artery disease and in the development of cardiovascular risk scores in women and men. Special interest in the development of artificial intelligence to improve coronary risk stratification. His research relates to the clinical application of cardiac imaging.

Dr Guillermo Romero Farina is a Cardiologist and Senior Researcher at VHIR and CIBERCV, and cardiologist at CSAPG. He is an expert in the study of cardiac synchronization, ventricular remodeling, cardiomyopathies, chronic coronary artery disease and in the development of cardiovascular risk scores in women and men. Special interest in the development of artificial intelligence to improve coronary risk stratification. His research relates to the clinical application of cardiac imaging.

In 2000 he obtained the Master's Degree in Medicine and the PhD Degree in Cardiology with the Doctoral Thesis in Cardiology (Cum Laude) in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB). Between 2002 and 2005 he completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship through a scholarship from the Ministry of Education and Culture of Spain with the topic Ischemic Cardiomyopathy and study of Myocardial Viability at the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, UAB. Later in 2006 he obtained the Diploma in Biostatistics in Health Sciences, Department of Biostatistics, UAB; to continue later with the Master's degree. In 2012 he acquired the Master’s degree in Advanced Cardiology from the Spanish Society of Cardiology, and in 2014 the Master’s degree in Diagnostic Cardiac Imaging from the Spanish Society of Cardiology. In Stockholm, in 2005, he was awarded the degree of FESC (Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology); in the USA, in 2006, the degree of FASNC (Fellow of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology); in France, 2019, the degree of FEACVI (Fellow of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging); and in London, 2021 the FRSM (Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England). In 2008 he achieved the European Board for the Specialty of Cardiology. Between 2020 and 2022 he was one of the Judges to award: JNC Best Clinical Paper Award (Frans J. Th. Wackers Best Clinical Research Paper Award), by the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He is currently a member of the ESC Working Group on Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac CT since 2010, and Board Member Editor of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology since 2018. He is member of several scientific societies and also a usual international reviewer for several Editorial Committees in Institutions and Specialized Journals (clinical cardiology journals, and cardiovascular imaging journals). He has accumulated extensive knowledge, expertise and strength in the fields of his study, and has made an important contribution to international medicine with his co-workers. He is an international expert in the study of cardiac synchronization, ventricular remodeling, cardiomyopathies, chronic coronary artery disease and the development of cardiovascular risk scores in women and men. He has developed the VHRS-I, VHRS-II, VHRS-ICM, the CORSWO, and the PERRS-index. Currently he is related to 20 lines of research, with the analysis of myocardial flow, Chagas heart disease and myocardial involvement in scleroderma being the most recent lines under development.
