Reference Name Animal specie Strain Thematic area Specific pathology Description
AT023 Glaucoma (retinal neurodegeneration) genetic model Mice (Mus musculus) DBA/2J
Diseases of the sense organs (skin, eyes and ears)/Diabetes Glaucoma (retinal neurodegeneration)
In DBA/2 J mice, mutations in two genes (GpnmbR150X and Tyrp1b) lead to iris disease with features of human iris atrophy and pigment dispersion syndrome. This strain of mice is used as an experimental model of POAG (primary open-angle glaucoma), as they develop a chronic progressive increase in IOP that causes retinal ganglion cell death. The increase in IOP in these animals begins at 10 months of age, and the pressure remains elevated until death. These animal models are very useful in elucidating the glaucoma pathogenesis and to identify potential therapeutic targets
AT024 Glaucoma (retinal neurodegeneration) genetic model Mice (Muss musculus); Rat (Rattus norvegicus) C57BL/6 , DBA2/J Diseases of the sense organs (skin, eyes and ears)/Diabetes Glaucoma (retinal neurodegeneration)
Measurement of intraocular pressure (IOP), reading is obtained from the central cornea of each eye. is measured with a rebound tonometer (Tonolab, Icare, Espoo, Finland) specific adapted by mice or rat
AT025 Gyrencephalic porcine animal model of Malignant Infarction of the middle cerebral artery Pig (Sus scrofa) Hybrid Neurovascular diseases Malignant infarction of the middle cerebral artery
Pterional craniotomy and subsequent surgical occlusion of both branches of the middle cerebral artery
AT027 Humanized mice PBMC Mice (Mus musculus) NSG Oncology Lung cancer, Lymphoma; Multiple Myeloma
Human PBMC.s will be inoculated intraperitoneally.
AT136 Hypertension model Mice (Mus musculus) B6SJL Nephrology Hypertension
Model generated by mouse kidney androgen-regulated protein (KAP) cDNA cloned into pKAP2 vector, microinjected into 1-cell–fertilized B6SJL F2 embryos.
AT028 Inflamatory Bowel Disease (humanized and non-humanized) Mice (Mus musculus) C57BL/6 Inflammation Digestive, autoinmunology; ulcerative colitis
1 cycle of 2.5% DSS in drinking water ad libitum for 5 days, followed by 7 days of regular water to mimic the acute phase of the disease
AT029 Intestinal Decontamination and Microbiota Transplant Rat (Rattus norvegicus) Sprague-Dawley-OFA Liver Diseases Cirrhosis; NASH; healthy rats
Rats are administered omeprazole (50 mg/Kg/dia) for 3 days prior to intestinal decontamination in order to facilitate re-colonization with transplanted stool. To achieve intestinal emptying, rats are maintained isolated in fast grills with free access to water, and two oral doses of CitraFleet (sodium picosulfate, 0.16mg/mL and magnesium oxide 51.2mg/mL) of 1 ml and 2 ml are administered 24h and 12h, respectively, before the transplant (accompanied by 2 ml of water each). Re-colonization is performed by a single oral gavage with 100 mg of the corresponding faecal pool diluted in 2 ml of sterile PBS.
AT030 Irritable Bowel Syndrome in rats Rat (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar Kyoto Physiology and Pathophysiology of the Digestive Tract Experimental model of Irritable Bowel syndrome; intestinal barrier dysfunction
IBS model is based on generating psychological stress in animals. On the one hand, there is competition for space as 8 animals / cage are placed on an area of 1000 cm2. In addition, there is competition for access to food and drink, the floor contains more shavings than usual, which makes it difficult to move. In addition, in order to generate additional stress that accentuates social stress, a "Water Avoidance Stress (WAS)" test will be performed on days 3, 7, 10 and 15 of the study. This model of stress is widely described and used because it mimics the environmental stress that human beings suffer . This model consists of placing the animal - for 30 minutes - on a platform (8 x 6 cm) in a plastic container filled with warm water (25ºC) up to 1 cm below the platform. For healthy animals, the same test is performed but without water. At the end of the study day (day 15), different variables will be analyzed, specifically intestinal barrier function (ussing chambers, gene expression and immunohistochemistry studies) and abdominal hypersensitivity.
AT137 Transgenic de novo animal model Mice (Mus musculus) C57BL/FVB Neuroscience, Rare diseases GNB1 Encephalopathy
Transgenic mice to study GNB1 Encephalopathy
AT031 Laser-induced Choroidal Neovascularization model (CNV) Mice (Muss musculus); Rat (Rattus norvegicus) Diseases of the sense organs (skin, eyes and ears) Wet age-related macular degeneration; diabetic retinopathy
Choroidal vessel growth into the retina after laser-induced Bruch's membrane break.
