The work emphasizes the importance of evaluating these factors while treating patients with allergic food reactions.

Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) has carried out the widest study made till now to describe the role of several co-factors as instigadors of allergic food reactions. The physical exercise, the ingestion of alcohol or antiinflammatories not steroids (AINE) present an important role as activators of allergic food reactions, as determine the results recently published in the magazine Allergy (European Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology). The relation between these co-factors and the food reactions was known previously but it had only been studied in individual cases or limited series. "The work emphasizes the importance of evaluating the action of these cofactors in the treatment of patients with possible allergic food reactions", affirms Dr. Victoria Cardona, responsible of the Allergy department at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital and member of the research group of systemic diseases at VHIR.
