Miriam de Nadal Clanchet I have a degree in Medicine and Surgery and specialist in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care. I finished my PhD in 1998 and, since 1995, I have been working in the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Department at Vall d'Hebron University Hospital. I am currently head of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and associate professor at the UAB. My research area in perioperative medicine is integrated within the UNINN group, with the aim of exploring strategies for diagnosis, prevention, treatment and/or risk prediction in order to improve the clinical management of patients before, during and after the surgery This line of work focuses particularly on non-cardiac surgery, promoting advances to improve the care, management and recovery of surgical patients. Since 2005 I coordinate the Surgical Intensive Care Unit of the HUVH and my clinical fields of interest are perioperative medicine and hemodynamic monitoring in the critical patient. I am a member of the Critics Section of the Catalan Society of Anesthesiology (SCARTD) and the Intensive Care Section (SCI) of the Spanish Society of Anesthesiology (SEDAR). I have been an accredited Tutor of the specialty of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care (2004-2013) and Member of the Teaching Committee of the Catalan Society of Anesthesiology (2004-2009). I'm an Associate professor in the Department of Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine of the UAB and coordinator of the clinical simulation area of the HUVH Teaching Unit. Director of doctoral theses and Professor in postgraduate Masters at the UAB and the UB. In relation to research, I am responsible at our center of international cooperative projects led by McMaster University (Canada) and research projects of the European Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC). Líneas de investigación Medicina Perioperatoria Objetivos generales: Las complicaciones postoperatorias aumentan la morbimortalidad e impactan en la calidad de vida del paciente. Nuestra línea de investigación aborda los retos fisiológicos y psicológicos complejos de los pacientes quirúrgicos, poniendo énfasis en las estrategias de prevención, diagnóstico, tratamiento y predicción de riesgos para optimizar la atención al paciente antes, durante y después de la cirugía. Esta investigación se dirige principalmente al manejo y recuperación de pacientes sometidos a cirugía no cardíaca. Objetivos específicos: 1) Optimizar estrategias diagnósticas y terapéuticas en pacientes con lesión miocárdica aguda postoperatoria 2) Adquirir nuevos conocimientos sobre el manejo cardiovascular perioperatorio en pacientes sometidos a cirugía mayor no cardíaca 3) Evaluar el papel de los biomarcadores cardíacos en la predicción complicaciones postoperatorias 4) Evaluar la calidad de recuperación postoperatoria desde la experiencia del paciente.
