CERTERA Consortium VHIR and VHIO participate in the “Consorcio Estatal en Red para el desarrollo de medicamentos de TERapias Avanzadas (CERTERA)”. This call aims to establish a national R+D+I network and infrastructure for advanced therapies. The model seeks to enhance and coordinate existing production capacities for advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) across the country, through a consortium framework led by the Carlos III Health Institute under the Ministry of Science and Innovation. The Consortium aims to fund centers which produce, expand or provide services that make possible the production of Advanced Therapies based on Cell therapy, Gene therapy and Tissue Engineering. The Vall D’Hebron University Campus has received €2,7 million from the consortium, to distribute between VHIO and VHIR, in the expansion and services level. The funding will promote the development of advanced therapies, such as those based on TIL and CAR-T, led by VHIO, as well as the production of viral and non-viral vectors, led by VHIR. State-of-the-art infrastructure will be developed to support clinical trials and technology transfer, enhancing the Campus's scientific competitiveness in the field of advanced therapies. Preclinical Area for Innovative Advanced Therapies and Biosafety VHIR is committed to using the funds for the creation of a preclinical area to provide scientific, technical, and regulatory support to research groups, driving the preclinical development of innovative and advanced therapies with the highest safety standards. Acting as a crucial bridge between basic research and clinical translation, the area will also foster public-private collaboration to accelerate the delivery of effective treatments to patients. Area’s Goals Strengthening ATMP Leadership at Vall d’Hebron through CERTERA Support We are proud to harness CERTERA funding to enhance the complementary infrastructure and expertise in Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) across VHIO and VHIR. Our shared ambition is to position the Vall d’Hebron University Campus as a reference center for cutting-edge advanced therapies in Barcelona and beyond.
